The Challenge

Choosing where to eat sounds simple, but it often turns into an endless back-and-forth: “I don’t know”, “you choose”, “not that one”. Cenémoslo was born from that small but very real frustration, turning the decision into a shared, playful experience instead of an argument.

Key Problems Identified:

  • Couples and friends often struggle to decide where to eat.
  • Restaurant choices depend on location, budget, distance, and food preferences.
  • Most recommendation tools feel individual, not collaborative.
  • The decision process needed to feel fast, fun, and low-friction.

The Solution

Cenémoslo lets two people create a private session, choose their preferences, and swipe through real nearby restaurants at the same time. When both users like the same place, the app creates a match and shows the restaurant details.

Private Sessions

Users can create a session, share a 6-character code or link, and join without creating an account.

Live Restaurant Search

Restaurants are fetched in real time from Google Places based on location, distance, budget, and food preferences.

Collaborative Swipe

Each user swipes through restaurant cards independently, using a custom mouse and touch-based swipe interaction.

Instant Match

When both users like the same restaurant, Supabase Realtime broadcasts the match and displays the selected place.

Cenémoslo was built in one month as part of Escuelita Maker Batch All In. The project reached 100+ waitlist signups and is currently being used by real users. Beyond the technical challenge, it turned a common everyday frustration into a playful shared experience.

Key Learnings

A small everyday problem can become a meaningful product when the experience feels relatable.

Building without login forced me to design a simpler, faster, and more accessible user flow.

Real-time interactions make the product feel alive, especially when the core experience depends on two people making a decision together.
